Resident’s Preview of ACR 2016
Get a peek at special meeting content for residents and fellows
The 24th annual meeting of the ACR Residents and Fellows Section (RFS) will be held May 14–15, 2016, in conjunction with ACR 2016 annual meeting in Washington, D.C. Registration for the RFS meeting is free for all residents and fellows.
The annual RFS meeting is held immediately preceding the ACR meeting. All trainees are invited to participate in the present and future of radiology. The RFS meeting program has been developed entirely by the RFS Executive Committee and is designed to provide unique networking opportunities and educational content focused on the issues that matter most to residents and fellows, including career development, health policy, and advocacy. Annual elections for the RFS Executive Council are also held during the meeting. The deadline for nominations is March 19, 2016.
This year’s meeting will feature dynamic speakers from the radiology leadership, with sessions including “How to Evaluate a Radiology Job Offer” and “How to Nail a Job Interview – Secrets from the Wharton Business School.” There will also be two dedicated career development sessions, one of which will include a panel of early career radiologists in a variety of practice settings, including rural, academic, private, and teleradiology.
The RFS meeting also provides valuable introductory education on the current and future health policy and advocacy landscape for radiology. Ezequiel Silva III, MD, FACR, and Greg N. Nicola, MD, are presenting an excellent primer, “MACRA 101.” There will also be a joint session with the Young Physicians Session, called “The Nuts and Bolts of Healthcare Payment Policy.” Additionally, the ACR government relations staff will provide an update on the current climate on Capitol Hill and how it impacts health policy and radiology advocacy.
Additional highlights from the RFS meeting include the following:
- “ACR Workforce Update for Members in Training,” presented by Edward I. Bluth, MD, FACR, chair of the ACR Commission on Human Resources
- The Annual RFS Debate
- “Professional Liability for the Radiologist,” presented by Thomas Hoffman, JD, CAE, ACR associate general counsel
- American Board of Radiology update with a question-and-answer session
- RFS Networking Reception
- The RFS annual meeting is created by residents and fellows for the benefit of residents and fellows. Come join RFS members from around the country and help shape both the present and future of radiology!
